The temple, which was supposed to be built in the Byzantine period, was demolished during the Ottomans, and the remaining mosaics and foundations were dismantled by treasure hunters. As a result of the investigations, it is estimated that the middle part of the church was planned as pilgrimage.
Considering the fact that Rabbit Island is about 150-200 meters to Amasra and bad weather conditions make it difficult to go and return, it is estimated that the buildings next to the church are used as a complex and a monastery. It was determined that the rock steps started from the south west skirt of the island and continued towards the hill.
